Akpejiori to face Omar Acosta in pro debut

Akpejiori, a former college football and basketball for the University of Miami is being trained by two-time world champion Glen Johnson.

The 6-foot-8 heavyweight southpaw has lost just once in 14 fights as an amateur with 10 of his 13 wins coming via knockouts and he dreams of being a heavyweight champion in the future.
“My goal is to become the world’s heavyweight champion within four years,” Akpejiori said at a recent interview.
Akpejiori was born in Lagos in 1990 and moved to Kansas when he was awarded a scholarship to play high school basketball after being discovered at a basketball camp in South Africa in 2008. He holds a bachelor and master’s degree in mechanical engineering and works in the Miami Facilities Management Department as a Project Coordinator.
Omar Acosta, 31, has fought just twice since making his his professional debut in July last year and has won once, losing his last fight to Richard Urquizo by a majority decision in June.
