Akpejiori to face Omar Acosta in pro debut
Raphael “The Nigerian Hurricane” Akpejiori is set to make his professional debut when he faces Omar Acosta on Friday at the Twin River Event Center, Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Akpejiori, a former college football and basketball for the University of Miami is being trained by two-time world champion Glen Johnson.
The 6-foot-8 heavyweight southpaw has lost just once in 14 fights as an amateur with 10 of his 13 wins coming via knockouts and he dreams of being a heavyweight champion in the future.
Omar Acosta, 31, has fought just twice since making his his professional debut in July last year and has won once, losing his last fight to Richard Urquizo by a majority decision in June.
