Akpeyi to watch Libya, Eagles tie from the stands

South Africa based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi will for the second time watch the return leg of this evening’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and their Libya counterparts from the stands.

The same scenario played out last Saturday in Uyo with Akpeyi watching as the Eagles defeated their visitors 4-0 in the first leg.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper has fallen behind first choice Francis Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa after fumbling against South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last year June which Nigeria lost 2-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

He also fumbled against Argentina in an international friendly last year November which the Eagles won 4-2.

Since then Akpeyi who is the first choice keeper for premier league side Chippa United has not been able to convince head coach Gernot Rohr that he is still good to man the post.
