Albanian League champions sack ex-Eagles shot-stopper

Albanian League defending champions KF Tirana have sent former Super Eagles goalie and club manager, Emmanuel Ndubuisi Egbo, packing Sportinglife.ng reports.

In a release made public, the club stated that the coach was allowed to leave after the team’s unfortunate performance in their last matches.

“Tirana Football Club announces the discharge of coach Emmanuel Egbo.

“After the team’s unfortunate performance in the last matches, Egbo will no longer be in the top of white and blue because of missing results.

“The club thanks him for his dedication and successes, which peaked with the return of the champion home title.

“Wishing him success in his career, the champions camp gives a special value of success in the last season to the man who has been and will be part of the white and blue family for years. Thank you, Egbo,” the club statement  read in part.

The Albanian champions suffered a 0-1 home loss to Korabi on Thursday and has only won two of their last five games so far.

Interestingly, Egbo became the first-ever Nigerian coach to lead a European team to a league silverware after they were crowned 2019-2020 Albanian League champions, a performance that saw FK Tirana qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
