Supporters who made the trip to the Croatian capital received an email detailing police information regarding the limit of alcohol in Croatia.

Fans cannot consume more than 0.5 units (less than a pint in the UK) ahead of the game, while they have also been informed there could be tests and those who are over the lowly limit may well be taken into police custody.

No alcohol is served in the concourse is fairly common for European fixtures but this rule enforced takes it to a whole new level.

You just know that barely any away supporters are going to be below the limit set such is the connection football away trips have with alcohol.

In June 2018, UEFA announced that fans would be allowed to drink alcohol inside grounds for Champions League and Europa League fixtures after supporters were previously unable to do so, excluding VIP areas.
Meanwhile, in Qatar for the World Cup, there was initially a 100 percent alcohol tax introduced in the country in January. It was then whittled down to 70 percent but still, a case of beer will cost $64, as per reports.

As per the Foreign Office, people are not allowed to drink in public because of the country’s traditions, though it’s noted that alcohol is available at licensed hotel restaurants and bars with a permit.
