Algeria Suffer injury Blow Ahead Super Eagles Clash

 

Algeria defender Abdelkader Bedrane has been ruled of the Desert Foxes international friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Bedrane sustained an injury in Algeria’s 1-0 win against Syli Nationale of Guinea on Friday

The 30-year-old sprained his ankle in the encounter played at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran according to information on the official website of the Algeria Football Federation.

The centre-back has returned to his Saudi Arabia Professional Football League outfit, Damac as a result of the setback.

Bedrane has been capped 10 times by two-time African champions.He was part of the team that won the FIFA Arab Cup in 2021.

Like the Desert Warriors Super Eagles stand in captain William Troost-Ekong will equally miss the match after picking up injury in the build up to the match.

Meanwhile Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi has said the Desert Foxes have respect for the Super Eagles as both teams gear up ahead of their Tuesday friendly billed for 8pm at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran.

The North Africans are unbeaten in their last three matches against the Super Eagles.The gaffer gave a number of newer players a run-out as the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Youcef Belaili and Aissa Mandi were only named amongst the substitutes.

The former Algeria international however promised to field a stronger team against the Super Eagles.

“Nigeria is another game. We will try to get the whole group to play. The next game there will be more connection in our game because there will be players who are used to being there,” Belmadi said.
