Alli: Nobody spoke in the dressing room after UCL defeat

Dele Alli has revealed that none of the Spurs team were really speaking in the dressing room following the Champions League heartache against Liverpool.

Trailing 1-0 to Mohamed Salah’s penalty with only a minute on the clock, the Lilywhites only really threatened Alisson’s goal towards the end of the second half with Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen all going close.

With Spurs pushing on to try and force the game to extra time, Liverpool ensured they won the famous trophy for the sixth time with Divock Origi finding the bottom corner of the net to spark wild scenes inside the ground.

While the defeat will hurt for a long time given how close Spurs came to winning Europe’s top competition, Alli has revealed that it’s not the end of the team’s journey.

“It’s heart-breaking, no-one is really speaking,” he said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. “It’s time to reflect on what could have been. At the same time, and it’s difficult now, but we also have to look at how far we’ve come in reaching this final.

“It’s hard to take the positives right now but over time, players, staff and fans, when we look back at the journey together… this isn’t the end.
