Anambra Athletics Coach wants govt to do more in youth talent discovery

Mr Johnny Igboka, Anambra Athletics Coach has urged governments at all levels to do more for the youths by supporting talent scouts to discover future champions in the country.

Igboka told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Awka that the country had a huge population of talented youths that needed to be discovered as they were wasting away.

He urged government at all levels to do more by supporting individuals that have knowledge in talent discovery among youths to boost the country’s sports.

“We have a lot of budding talents more at the rural areas, ironically, most of them ends up not being discovered due to no opportunity came their way.

“That is why I am calling on Federal, State and Local governments to do more by encouraging people like us that have the facilities and technical knowledge of talent hunt.

“By doing so, the youths of Nigeria will be serious in life and engage more in sports to make a living out of it and by extension making the nation proud when they do well,” he said.

Igboka told NAN that already he had developed a facility for track and field sports for smooth take off of his desired dream of producing champions.

“I have developed a sporting arena where I train young lads in track and field games but it is expensive running such programme for it entails housing them, feeding and giving them medical care.

“Sports loving philanthropists are also invited to join government in moving sports forward by discovering the many talents that are in the country,” he said.
