Ancelotti delighted as Everton hammer Brighton

Everton boss, Carlo Ancelotti, was delighted with their 4-2 defeat of Brighton on Saturday.

James Rodriguez, signed last month from Real Madrid, put the seal on Everton’s win over Brighton with two goals after half-time to extend his side’s lead to 4-1.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed Everton in front with his sixth goal of the Premier League season on 16 minutes and Yerry Mina restored the Blues’ advantage on the stroke of half-time following an equaliser from Neal Maupay.

“We played well and managed the game well,” said Ancelotti.

“Brighton had possession but we were composed defensively and had opportunities to score on the counter-attack.

“We were good on set-pieces as usual.

“The performance was complete and this is the reason I think we deserved to win.

“James is doing really well. A player with quality doesn’t have a problem to adapt. The quality is there.

“Football is not so complicated, the pitch is always the same, the opponents always have 11 players, the ball is the same and the goal doesn’t move.

“Football is simple.”
