Andy Cole to Rashford: You’ ve got to up your game!

Andy Cole believes Marcus Rashford isn’t clinical enough at Manchester United and can’t be relied upon to score regular goals.

The 23-year-old enjoyed his best goalscoring return in the team last season, notching 22. He has also scored 16 so far this term, with plenty more games left before the season’s end.

But 1999 treble winner Cole believes Rashford doesn’t score enough to be relied upon as a centre-forward and compared him to summer signing Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan joined on last summer’s transfer deadline day and has created a bigger impact than many would have predicted.

Cavani has scored seven goals in 22 appearances so far and seems to be getting better all the time.

Cole believes the 33-year-old’s clinical nature in front of goal sets him apart from the likes of Rashford.

“Marcus is not going to be a clinical centre-forward like a Cavani,” he told  talkSPORT.

“Marcus will nick himself a certain amount of goals season in, season out, but he won’t be that individual you’re looking for to score 20 to 25 goals. I don’t think Marcus has got that clinical side in him.

“If you look at what Man Utd have now with Cavani; you know what you’re going to get [with him], it’s as simple as that.”

United take on West Ham later tonight in the FA Cup .
