Meanwhile Tyson Fury has finally confirmed that he will be putting his WBC Heavyweight title on the line against Dillian Whyte in his first outing since completing his trilogy against Deontay Wilder.

The self-proclaimed Gypsy King had been vocal in his criticism of both Whyte and Anthony Joshua in recent weeks, but has now put any confusion over his next fight to bed.

Fury confirmed on social media on Thursday that he would indeed be facing mandatory WBC contender Whyte, who avenged his shock defeat against Alexander Povetkin last time out.

While there had been talk about both Whyte and Joshua being paid to step away to allow Fury to fight Oleksandr Usyk, that has not been the case.

Fury said on Thursday: “I can’t wait to punch Dillian Whyte’s face right in mate.

Fury is said to have grown impatient in recent weeks with the uncertainty over his next bout, with Whyte being the mandatory challenger for his WBC belt.

However, Whyte was said to be far from happy at the offer of an 80/20 purse split in the favour of the champion, and was said to be willing to accept £5million to step aside.

With a request to delay fight bids coming earlier this week, Fury’s team were keen to go ahead and organise the bout unless huge progress was made with Usyk’s team.
