Anthony Ujah gets six minutes action in Berlin victory

 

Super Eagles ace Anthony Ujah was in action for six minutes on Saturday as Union Berlin grabbed 3-2 away victory over his former club Mainz O5.

Ujah it will be recalled joined newly promoted Union Berlin from Mainz in June this year.

The 29 year old who made combined 45 appearances for Mainz before joining Berlin was thrown into Saturday’s encounter in the 88th minute of the match as replacement for Sebastian Andersson who interestingly scored a brace before he was substituted

Although Mainz dominated possession all through the match, their four shots on target only managed to produce two goals in the closing minutes of the match.  The homers had started off by giving out an own goal in the 30th minute, which served as a pedestal for Ujah and his teammates to build upon.

Compatriot Suleiman Abdullahi was however not featured as he remains on the sidelined list. The defeat ensures that Mainz remain within the relegation zone of the bundesliga with Union Berlin occupying the 11th position on the log.
