Aribo celebrates Rangers’ Young Player, Goal of the Season Awards

Nigeria’s Joe Aribo is overwhelmed with the two outstanding awards he received from Rangers for his impressive performances last season.

The Super Eagles forward went home with Rangers Young player of the season and the club’s Goal of the Season awards respectively.

Aribo joined Rangers on a free transfer from Charlton last season, and he did not take long to settle in at the Ibrox stadium.

The 24-year-old scored his first goal on his home debut- a Europa League qualifying win over St Joseph’s FC. He backed up the performance with another goal against FC Progrès Niederkorn the following week.

Overall, Aribo made 48 appearances in all competitions for Rangers, scoring nine times and registering eight assists.

Meanwhile, Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has lauded the “stunning” performances of Aribo during their pre-season matches.

The midfielder found the back of the net in their victories over Motherwell and Coventry City and delivered impressive displays against Lyon and Nice.

Ahead of Rangers 2020-21 Premiership opening game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, the Liverpool and England legend has showered encomium on the Super Eagles midfielder.

“During pre-season, we have been very considerate. Joe Aribo has been stunning,” Gerrard said in a pre-match conference.

“Defensively we have looked solid and looked threatening going forward. Brandon Barker was looking great and a real threat during these matches also.”

Aribo has been a key member of the Gers team since teaming up with the side last summer after turning down a contract extension with Charlton Athletic.
