Aribo is too weak to play for Nigeria–Taribo
Rangers star Joe Aribo has been told he’s too weak to play for Nigeria in an astonishing blast from Super Eagles legend Taribo West.
The former Inter Milan, AC Milan and Derby County defender West believes Getafe star Oghenekaro Etebo should play instead.
“African football is just too physical for Joe.”
West said: “I’ve watched Joe Aribo play for Nigeria but in my view, it’s clear he is yet to come to terms with it.
“There’s no other way of putting this – I think Joe is not a bad player, but he needs time to adjust to African football. It’s not the same as playing in Europe.
The Ibrox midfielder has made four appearances for Nigeria since making his debut last year, scoring two goals and being widely praised by pundits.
Having moved to Rangers on a free from Charlton, Aribo’s form has been up and down as he gets used to Scottish football for Steven Gerrard’s men, but his goals against Brazil and Ukraine have earned him plaudits in Nigeria.

“In Africa, there’s no time on the ball and for me, Oghenekaro Etebo is a far better option, He’s quick, physical, and reads the game. He should get Joe Aribo’s spot when he comes back.
