Arna-Bjornar 2:2 Stabaek: Falcons defender rescues Norwegian club from defeat

Super Falcons of Nigeria defender, Ngozi Ebere was the heroine for Norwegian club, Arna-Bjornar who drew 2-2 with bottom placed Stabaek in the Toppserien league on Saturday.

Playing at home, Bjornar were the first to score in the 10th minute but failed to sustain the lead allowing the visitors draw level in the 44th minute.

The home team blew away several scoring chances which Stabaek capitalised on in the 58th minute to go in front through Mellisa Bjanesoy.

Bjornar quickly recovered a minute later through Ebere whose shot into the far corner of the post left scores at 2-2 till the end of the match.  This would be the second time both sides would be meeting this season with Bjornar winning the first match by a lone goal.

It was her second goal of the season for Bjornar who are seventh in the league from 14 matches.

Interestingly, it was Ebere’s goal that gave Bjornar its first victory of the season which was against Klepp in April.

The left-back who was on international duty with the Falcons last Tuesday in an Olympic qualifier against Algeria in Lagos was however booked for raising her jersey to celebrate her goal.
