Arsenal boss Arteta expecting ‘new faces’ ahead of Florida trip

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted that the club will have “some new faces arriving” ahead of their preseason trip to the US this week.

The Gunners are due to fly out to Florida on Wednesday as they step up their preseason preparations after a training camp in Scotland, during which they played friendlies against Hibernian and Rangers.

Benfica full-back Nuno Tavares – who scored in the second game – is the club’s only signing so far this summer, but deals have been agreed for the signings of Ben White from Brighton and Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht.

White is currently on holiday, having been part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2020 last weekend, but Lokonga could be with the group in time for the trip to the States.

“Now a little bit of recovery,” Arteta said after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Rangers. “We trained really hard, played two games, and now we’re going to be travelling to America in the next week.

“We didn’t have any injuries which is really positive in the first week. We’re going to have some new faces arriving probably, so very positive.”
