Arsenal fans BACK Iwobi’s stay

Fans of Arsenal Football Club have passed a vote of confidence on Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi to continue with the London side for the forthcoming coming 2019/20 Premier League season in the latest poll conducted by a highly respected website, Sports Mole.

Sports Mole recently gave supporters the chance to vote on who they felt should stay or leave the club during the ongoing transfer window, and if they have their way then some big names may be on their way out of North London.

SportingLife.ng reports that Iwobi, who has played a major role in ensuring the Super Eagles secure a semi-final place at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, got 68% of voters who want him to be at the club next season against 32% who voted for his exit.

Mesut Ozil – the club’s highest earner – is one of those to have been linked with an exit, and a whopping 78% of supporters would like to see him leave despite the most interested party Fenerbahce ruling themselves out of the running this week.

Ozil’s fellow attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan is another fans want to see sold this summer, with 72% of voters calling for Arsenal to ‘Ditch’ the Armenian.

Neither was the most unpopular player amongst the Gunners faithful, though, with that unwanted accolade going to Shkodran Mustafi, who earned an unequivocal 92% ‘Ditch’ rating.

The likes of Mohamed Elneny (85%), Nacho Monreal (63%) and Carl Jenkinson (85%) could also be on their way out should the fans get their way – although worryingly some of the players Arsenal fans want to
keep most have also been linked with exits.

Apart from Iwobi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette earned 97% ‘Keep’ ratings, while the likes of Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin, and Bernd Leno were all voted to stay by more than 90% of fans too.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka also fell the right side of the line, while captain Laurent Koscielny, who has since refused to travel with the squad on their pre-season tour, was the most divisive with 51% of supporters voting to keep him.
