Arsenal join football’s cryptocurrency revolution

Arsenal have become the second Premier League club to enter the world of cryptocurrency as they announced they will launch the $AFC Fan Token.

The north London side have partnered with Chiliz, the leading global blockchain providers for the sports and entertainment industry, and will launch the token on the Socios.com app.

Manchester City, PSG and Barcelona are among the clubs already involved at club level, while Argentina and Portugal are two of the national sides signed up to partnerships.

Fan Tokens are collectible digital assets, minted on the Chiliz blockchain, that provide owners with access to voting rights in polls, chat forums, games and competitions on Socios.com.

The Gunners have confirmed the partnership will allow fans to influence club decisions through interactive polls, while the competition and quizzes will result in real-life and and digital club-related rewards.

Arsenal’s commercial director, Peter Silverstone said: ‘We are excited to launch this partnership with Socios that will bring our huge global fan base even closer to the club.
