Arsenal line up £22m bid for Super Eagles forward

Arsenal’s target, Emmanuel Dennis, is set to leave Club Brugge this summer after three years at the club, reveals his manager.

Dennis wanted to leave last summer, before the arrival of Philippe Clement prompted him to stay for a further year.

His boss has now announced he is likely to leave the Jan Breydel Stadium this summer, with Arsenal looking like the expected destination, according to the Mirror.

Last year, Club Brugge upped Dennis’s wages and awarded him a lucrative new contract through until 2022 by way of a thank you for staying.

But that is unlikely to stop him leaving if Arsenal are willing to pay the £22million price tag associated with him.

However, Dennis has attracted heavy interest from around Europe this season, having scored nine goals this season, including twice at the Bernabeu in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

It is reported that Newcastle, Brighton, Sheffield United, Watford, Monaco and Sampdoria are also eyeing a move for the 22-year-old.

A striker by trade, Dennis has been Clement’s frontman, as his manager claims there is ‘a lot of interest’ in his player.

‘It is very likely that Dennis will leave,’ he told La Dernière Heure. ‘He can also count on a lot of interest.

‘It is the time for him to take a new step.’

At the age of 22, Dennis is very much a player on the up, he provides lightning pace and has an explosive way of playing.

He is able to lead off the shoulder of the last defender and get on the end of anything in front of the goal.

Off the ball, his energy is infectious and presses his opponents relentlessly – seeing him put down as the first name on the team-sheet week in week out.
