Arsenal make contact with Real Madrid over Saka replacement

Arsenal have reportedly ‘made contact’ with Real Madrid over a potential transfer for left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Despite the Premier League season being on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Mikel Arteta is pressing ahead with his transfer plans.

Reguilon is attracting interest from several clubs in Europe

One area Arteta could look to strengthen is at left-back and Spanish publication ABC claim Real Madrid’s Reguilon is being considered.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Sevilla and his displays this term have seen as many as ten clubs take note of him.

The report suggests Reguilon could even be considered a ‘replacement’ for Bukayo Saka at Arsenal should the Gunners lose their young talent this summer.

However, Saka, who can also play as a left-winger, is yet to commit his future to the Gunners with his current deal running until 2021.

Should Arsenal manage to strike a deal for Regulion, it would provide healthy competition for Saka and also allow Arteta to play the latter further forward.

But the Gunners and other interested suitors may have to wait until the end of the summer before finding out whether Real will sell.
