The 30-year-old, who is believed to have a difficult relationship with Gunners boss Unai Emery, has made just two appearances for the North London club this season.

The former Real Madrid man was linked with a move to Ersun Yanal’s side in the summer but it was his wages, which are the highest in Arsenal history, that were thought to be the stumbling block in negotiations.

However, Turkish newspaper Takvim reports that Fenerbahce’s Director of Football Damien Commoli is now in discussions with the Gunners over a potential loan deal that would see the two clubs split Ozil’s wage bill.
