Arsenal, Real Madrid Sign Nigerian-born Youngsters

Two Nigerian born football starlets have been signed up by top European Club sides.Arsenal saw the potentials in a Nine-year-old Nigerian-born Jayden Adetiba after impressing on trial with the club’s young team.

Adetiba, who previously played for the SuperSport United Soccer School, reportedly spent five weeks with Arsenal before joining the North London club.

“I thank God and my parents for this. I am very happy,” the youngster from Cape Town was quoted as saying by The Sun.

“I train three times a week at the academy and we have a match at the weekend. Adetiba will look to follow in the footsteps of those greats, as well as African stars such as Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure and John Obi Mikel.

Also, Real Madrid have unveiled a Nigerian born lad, Marvin Olawale Akinbi with their youth team in the lower division.

Park, who was born in Palma de Mallorca in 2000, plays as an attacking midfielder, he is fast and has the ability to dribble and very dangerous in a one-one situation.

He is ambidextrous in nature as he can use both feet very well and has previously played in several other youth clubs in Spain and England.

Among them are Sporting Ciudad de Palma (2006-2009), Tranmere Rovers (2009-2012), Sporting Ciudad de Palma (2012-2013), La Salle (2013-2014), as well as Es Jonquet Penya Arrabal (2014-2016).

Park has also featured at various levels for Real Madrid’s youth teams, following his signing on July 1, 2016; as he oscillated from juvenile C (2016-2017) to B (2017-2018) and now finally in A (2018).

Madrid stated in a citation for Park: “The attacking midfielder has the option to represent Spain or Nigeria at the senior level when he is set to decide on which country to pledge his allegiance.”
