Arsenal star Cedric and wife jet off to resort after Euro snub

Arsenal ace Cedric Soares has softened the blow of missing out on a place in Portugal’s Euro 2020 squad by jetting out to the Maldives, where he is staying in a £3,500-a-night resort with wife Filipa

Cedric, 29, has not been named in Portugal’s squad for the upcoming European Championships, meaning he has time to make the most of his summer break with wife Filipa.

While failing to make the cut undoubtedly comes as a frustration for the right-back, he has at least softened the blow by heading to the Maldives to spend time in a beautiful ‘floating’ villa.

Their swanky holiday pad includes a huge water slide which connects their room to the crystal clear, green-blue sea.

Cedric and Filipa were also seen enjoying an afternoon relax in a pair of sea hammocks by the ocean.

The glamorous resort even has an outdoor cinema with a telescope viewing point to stare at the stars, as well as a host of restaurants.

Filipa is clearly enjoying her summer vacation with the Gunners star, posting a video of herself soaking up the sun in a bikini and writing: “Good morning, paradise.”

The couple are treating themselves to a short break away from daughter Siena, who was born back in November following a secret pregnancy.

Cedric will be hoping to work his way back into Mikel Arteta’s plans at the start of next season after falling out of favour towards the end of the last campaign.

The Portugal ace failed to make a Premier League appearance from April 3 onwards, with former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell suggesting he has fallen out with Arteta.
