Arsenal star to make fresh transfer request amid Arteta revival

An on-loan Arsenal star will reportedly make a plea to his parent club after enjoying a renaissance under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have begun to show signs of what could be to come under Arteta in recent weeks.

A 2-1 victory over newly-crowned champions Liverpool breathed new life into their European aspirations. While a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang upset heavy favourites Man City to secure Arsenal’s progress to the FA Cup final.

And one player who has been a key component in that recent resurgence is Dani Ceballos.

The Spaniard is currently nearing the end of a year-long loan from Real Madrid, but has shone since the restart.

The 23-year-old has appeared in all 10 of Arsenal’s fixtures since football’s return, and produced a tireless 88 minute performance in the victory over Man City.

Now, Spanish publication El Confidencial (via The Daily Express) report that Ceballos is set to make an urgent plea to Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez in order to extend his stay at The Emirates.

The Gunners are described as being short on funds for the upcoming window. Something evidenced by the extra year offered to much-criticized centre-half David Luiz.

An extra year from Ceballos would suit Arsenal’s financial department. While the player himself has his own reasons for wishing to stay.

With Euro 2020 pushed back to next summer, it is hinted Ceballos sees his likelihood of cementing his place in the Spain squad as much greater if playing regularly at Arsenal.

The report notes there is interest from other Spanish clubs, but the possibility of a further year on loan with a £17.7m option to buy next summer is touted.
