Arteta: Willian, Gabriel, Lacazette showed terrific commitment against Fulham

Arsenal celebrated their first victory in the Premier League with appreciation to the newly signed players who displayed a great sign of commitment in their 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

It was the first day of the season that dreams were made of for Arsenal and a number of their players.

Gabriel Magalhaes marked his Arsenal debut with a goal – but it was Willian who grabbed the headlines with three assists in a comfortable win at Fulham.

However, they were caught cold just eight minutes into their return. Alexandre Lacazette tapped in from close range after good work from Willian.

The Brazilian – a free-transfer signing from Chelsea – then struck the post with a free-kick as Arsenal threatened another before the break.

New signing Willian had a debut to remember, laying on assists for all three goals. And his was not the only debut to go swimmingly – Gabriel Magalhaes capping his Premier League bow with a goal.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta was overwhelmed by the remarkable showing of the new signings after the match.

“Hopefully it’ll get much better. I think it’s important for their belief. The commitment they showed was terrific.”

“I wanted to give Gabriel some time. Credit to him, he performed really well.”

“They were both very good. With Willian, I knew the performance would come straight away.”

With the Cottagers pressing high, Arsenal played their way out from the back with some smart passing. Willian then picked up the ball before splaying a fine cross-field ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The prolific Gunners skipper still had work to do, but he engineered some space for himself before lifting a fine shot into the roof of the net.
