Aston Villa boss Gerrard tests positive for Covid-19

Steven Gerrard will not be in the dugout for Aston Villa’s games against Chelsea and Leeds after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Blues travel to Villa Park on Boxing Day before Gerrard’s side head to Elland Road to face relegation-fighting Leeds two days later.

But the manager, 41, must self-isolate during those games after a Villa announcement on Christmas Day.

The club confirmed: “Aston Villa can confirm Head Coach Steven Gerrard will be unable to attend our next two Premier League matches with Chelsea and Leeds United as he will be isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.”
