Athletico not ready to let go of £113million Felix

Manchester City have reportedly been warned against every possible move for Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix.

The Blues have been linked with the 22-year-old, but reports say he is “untouchable” with the Spanish champions.

However, the Portuguese playmaker would already have been at the Etihad had his agent Jorge Mendes had his way two years ago.

According to marca, Portuguese sports newspaper Record has an audio recording of Mendes pointing out that he wanted Felix to sign for City and not Atletico.

In the conversation, Mendes said: “The best thing for Joao Felix would be Manchester City for Guardiola. It will be the most expensive purchase in Portuguese football.’

The 22-year-old eventually moved to Atletico for £113 million from Benfica in 2019.

Felix played a supporting role for Diego Simeone this season.

The attacker found the back of the net on Thursday in their defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the Super Coppa.

According to reports in Spain, there is no chance the attacker will leave the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in January or in the summer.
