Azogu wins FCT Golf Association President Cup

Former IBB International Golf and Country Club Captain Tony Azogu emerged overall winner of the FCT Golf Association President Cup held on Saturday at the IBB Golf Club Abuja.

The fine golfer playing handicap 11 (eleven) shot 81 and returned 70 nett to emerge overall winner while his handicap was reduced to 9.7 for his fine posting at the competition that attracted close to 180 golfers across the nation.

In Men’s division 1, playing under handicap 0-9 J. Fadairo playing handicap 7 polled 75 nett after count back of 80. P. Hayward placed second. S.O Sosanya playing handicap 6 emerged the best gross winner with 78 gross while Muhammed Suleiman came second with 79 gross.

The overall best winner Azogu ascribed his victory to hard work and dedication to the game. “About 180 fine golfers competed and the it was a keenly competed for. So if you win it should mean the whole world to you. So I am very happy I won”, Azogu disclosed to SportingLife.ng in Abuja.

The Chairman FCT Golf Association, Engineer Oladapo Olaide Rotimi Mohammed hailed “the FCT Minister Muhammed Musa Bello who graciously accepted to provide a piece of land for the association to develop a public golf course to avail members of the public the opportunity to learn and play the game.

“I will like to use this medium to appreciate the (IBB Golf) Club Captain Mr. O. Ahmed and his executive for the support and specifically making available the Club’s facilities for this occasion”, Mohammed disclosed.
