Azubuike to join Pyramid training on Thursday

Former Nigeria U-23 Captain, Azubuike Okechukwu will join his new teammates at Pyramids FC in training for the first time on Thursday, SportingLife.ng can reveal.

The 21-year-old who joined the Egyptian outfit from Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor in a two-year deal this summer is yet to taste action for his new club due to injury.

The newly created Pyramids FC will play El Gounah on Wednesday after the international break but fans of the club may likely see their new number 97 in action for the first time on Monday, September 17 against Al Mokawloon.

‘I can’t wait to get started.’ Azubuike told SportingLife from his new base in Egypt. ‘I know the fans are waiting to see me and I hope to deliver.

‘I want to help my teammates have a successful season and that journey will hopefully begin against Al Mokawloon. I’m working closely with the team’s physical trainer to get back to top condition ahead of my debut.’

Azubuike was assistant captain of the Dream Team VI to the 2016 Olympics where they won bronze courtesy a 3-2 win against Honduras.
