Azubuike regrets first red card in Egypt

Former Nigerian U-23 midfielder, Azubuike Okechukwu has expressed regret after he picked his first red card in the colours of Egyptian side, Pyramids FC.

The 21-year-old, who endured a difficult spell on the sidelines in the summer following a wicked knee injury that kept him out for almost four months, made his third straight start against Wadi Degla.

Azubuike lasted just ten minutes into the second half as the referee sent him off after a second yellow but his teammates held on to secure a 1-1 draw.

Speaking with SportingLife, he said: “I feel bad about the red card. Perhaps, we would’ve won the game if I was on but these things happen in football.

“I’m grateful we came out with a point and I hope to return soon and help the team in their quest for glory this season.”

Despite the draw, Pyramids remain second on the log with 23points, three adrift league leaders Zamalek.
