Bale reveals secret to his stunning Tottenham hat-trick

Gareth Bale says his stunning hat-trick against Sheffield United shows he just needed a run of games at Tottenham after his lack of action under Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho never really trusted Bale during his time at Spurs but the Welshman now appears to be finding some form and rhythm under interim manager Ryan Mason.

Bale scored three goals in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Sheffield United and said he is happy again now that he is getting gametime and Spurs “are playing football the Tottenham way”.

Bale told Sky Sports: “I am feeling good. I just needed to play games, I just needed a run of games and I am kind of doing that now.

“I am happy and when I am happy I normally play well.

“The fact that we are more on the front foot means we are closer to the goal and are able to score more. We have been working on that for the last few weeks.

“It is not going to happen overnight, but I feel we are taking a step in the right direction and playing football the Tottenham way.”

Tottenham are five points behind Chelsea with four games to go in the race for the top four.

Bale said: “It was a great performance from the first whistle. I felt like we were on the front foot, we pressed well, got control of the ball and played some good football.

“As for the hat-trick, yeah it is always nice to get another match ball.

“But more importantly three points for the team and we move on to the next one. It was a great performance from everyone. We are happy with the three points.”
