Barca can’t afford Lewandoski says Javier Tebas

LaLiga president Javier Tebas has rubbished speculation that Robert Lewandowski could join Barcelona this summer.

Speaking to the Spanish publication MarkTebas assures that the economic situation of the Catalan team in recent years could ruin their plans to sign the Bayern Munich striker.

Xavi is determined to bring the 33-year-old to Camp Nou and Lewandowski, who sees his contract with Bayern expire at the end of next season, has told the club he will not sign a new extension in hopes of joining the LaLiga side. .

Tebas said: ‘The numbers are very easy, you have losses of more than 500 million euros in the last two years, you have to recover that to sign players.

Lewandowski has one year left at Bayern, between what he wants to win and what Bayern wants in fees, I don’t see him at Barcelona.

Tebas was also asked if the potential sale of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong could help them in their quest to sign Lewandowski.

The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club, with Manchester United said to be interested.

Asked if a de Jong sale could finance Lewandowski, Tebas said: “It could be enough depending on how much you sell and what Lewandowski costs.” It could be 100 million euros more than what is saved.
