Barca president sets meeting with Messi’s father to resolve crisis

Father of Lionel Messi and Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will meet this week to resolve crisis.

Cadena Sersays the two parties will discuss Messi’s potential transfer on either Wednesday or Thursday.

The 33-year-old insists he should be allowed to leave for free, while Bartomeu and Barca believe clubs must meet his 700 million euros release clause.

The news of this week’s meeting is significant as Bartomeu had previously stated he would only meet with Messi’s father – who is also his agent – if they wanted to discuss a contract extension.

It seems both parties are beginning to accept that taking the issue to court will not benefit either of them.

Meanwhile, the report also claims Manchester City are willing to offer Messi a two-year contract to join them this summer.
