Barcelona name squad for Spurs Champions League clash

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has dropped summer signing Malcolm along with four others from the
squad to face Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Malcom, a target for Spurs before he became locked in a tug of war between Barcelona and Roma.

Now the 21-year-old has been frozen out of the first team set-up at Barca and has only made two
appearances this season. Samuel Umtiti will also miss the clash with Spurs.

Sergi Roberto also misses out with a muscle injury meaning it’s almost certain that Nelson Semedo will
play at right-back. There is still no room for Carles Alena or Sergi Samper.

Juan Miranda, an 18-year-old left-back, has been included for the match.

Barcelona top Group B having thrashed PSV 4-0 on matchday one while Spurs went down 2-1 at Inter Milan.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is plotting Barcelona’s downfall safe in the knowledge he will never
manage the Spanish giants.

Pochettino believes his past precludes him from ever taking charge at the Nou Camp, given he has been
both a player and manager at cross-town rivals Espanyol.
