Barcelona owe 19 clubs including £29million to Liverpool

Records have shown that Barcelona owe 19 clubs money for transfers, with £29m still to be paid to Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho.

While big fees are often splashed out, it’s rare that they get paid straightaway with Barca regularly agreeing payments.

It means they are still to pay in full for a number of players, including former Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo.

They are also still to pay the full transfer fee for Coutinho, and still owe Liverpool £29m (€40m).

The La Liga giants own 19 clubs €126m in the short-term, with the overall amount owed being €196m.

Coutinho’s transfer fee was reported to be an initial £105m, which could rise to £142m with various clauses being met.

The Brazilian has struggled at the Nou Camp and spent last season on loan at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

He has featured 12 times for Barca this season, scoring twice under Ronald Koeman, before having to undergo knee surgery.

The forward has often been linked with a return to Liverpool having been successful during his time at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has regularly been asked about the rumours, and previously said: “I really respected Phil’s switch from the first second. Not that I do that all the time but it felt oh wow that could be difficult.

“So it’s not about yes we signed a new contract so many weeks before that but it was really clear he would not have asked me for any other club but for this club, there was no chance.
