Battle of the speedsters: Top 3 Thoroughbreds of all time

Horse racing has been around for centuries, and it is also increasingly becoming popular, especially with horse racing events that can now be watched and wagered on online. Now, there are plenty of Thoroughbreds that are dominating the racetrack, and they have their legendary pedigree to thank for their amazing genepool.

In the history of horse racing, there have been a ton of great horses that made the sport even more famous to what it is today. There are even exceptions that capture the greatness of what a truly fast Thoroughbred should be.

These horses are in a totally different class on their own, and they are regarded as the best Thoroughbreds of all time. If you’ve wagered on horse racing on Sportsbet.io or other top online sportsbooks, then check out the greatest horses that made the sport as big as it is right now.

1.  Secretariat

If you check any top five list of best Thoroughbreds of all time, Secretariat is always on the top three at the very least. Also known as Big Red, he dominated the US Triple Crown multiple times which is a feat only very few horses have achieved.

In fact, the Triple Crown is some of the most prestigious horse racing competitions in the world, and Secretariat delivered on multiple occasions with flair and style. Secretariat won several competitions such as the Stanford Stakes in 1972 and Kentucky Derby the following year.

2.  Man o’ War

Man o’ War has seen it all, but if there’s one huge mis opportunity that his owner made during the prime of the horse’s career, it would be not joining the US Triple Crown. Aside from that, Man o’ War also competed in grand racetracks.

Out of 21 career tournament races, Man o’ War won 20 of them. He was also known for his violent behaviour and short temperament which is why he was named after the harsh waves experienced by old warships.

Man o’ War was also named as the American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in 1919, American Horse of the Year in 1920, and the Leading sire in North America.

3.  Seattle Slew

Among the achievements of Seattle Sew is that he is one of only two horses to win the Triple Crown undefeated in 2018. He was also named as the Horse of the Year in 1977 and was inducted in the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 1981.

Unlike other horses, Seattle Slew was not an attractive foal because he looks like a mule. With this, he was named Baby Huey. Over the years, he showed an impressive front-running style and was even compared to a falcon making him one of the top race horses today.

There is no denying that the Thoroughbreds mentioned above are among the huge reasons behind the popularity of horse racing. If you are a punter who bets on horse racing on Sportsbet.io, you can go back in history and check out the horses to know how they influenced present Thoroughbreds to race with prowess.
