Beating South Africa on Sunday a must says Rajevac

Black Stars have been told that their clash with Bafana Bafana on Sunday is like a final and must be treated as such. Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac gave the marching orders on the heels of their 1-1 draw against Ethiopia on Thursday at the Orlando Stadium.

Rajevac revealed that the original plan was and still remain to beat Bafana Bafana even if they’d beaten Ethiopia.

Interestingly Bafana Bafana beat Zimbabwe  by a lone goal same thursday thus giving Hugo Broos’s side a distinct advantage going into for Sunday’s group decider against Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium

“Everything will be decided on Sunday, so it is important that we win our next match with a two-goal difference if we want to qualify for the next round,” Rajevac said.

“We have to concentrate on the following game and do what it takes to win that game.”

Rajevac admitted that Ethiopia gave them as good as they’ve got. Ghana took the lead in the 22nd minute through star forward Andre Ayew, but Ethiopia’s best player in Getaneh Kebede, who has played in South Africa for the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and the University of Pretoria, equalised with a well-worked 72nd minute goal.

“This result has disrupted us, but we have to forget about it as quickly as possible because of the crucial game on Sunday,” Rajevac said.

“Even if we’d won this game, we’d still need to win the last game because the last match is the important one.”
