Beckham’s son Romeo kickstarts career with Brentford B team

David Beckham’s son Romeo has been training with Brentford’s B-team in a bid to kick start his professional career.

The 20-year-old son of former England skipper David is currently on the books at Inter Miami, where his dad is co-owner and president, making regular appearances for feeder side Inter Miami II.

The Times report that the youngster has spent time with the Premier League reserve side, who scrapped their youth academy back in 2016 before reopening it in 2022 while retaining the B-team.

Romeo, who plays as a winger, has made 26 league appearances for Inter Miami II scoring twice, made his non-competitive senior debut for Inter Miami back in January.

Romeo looked to be stepping away from a potential career in football having been released by Arsenal back in 2014 and looked to be pursuing tennis after training with Andy Murray.

David said at the time: “The other day Romeo turned round to me and said he didn’t want to play football anymore. Part of me was devastated but part of me was relieved, too. He’s got other passions and I like that.”

He followed that up with a sublime free-kick against Orlando City B in July, with David writing: “Well done mate so proud. First goal in a Miami shirt.”

To which his second eldest child replied: “Love you Dad, that was for you.”

Romeo also got some minutes for the first-team under Phil Neville in a pre-season friendly against Barcelona, chatting to Memphis Depay after a 6-0 defeat.
