Benfica Pre Season: Ebuehi receives guard of honour

Super Eagles flying wing-back, Tyronne Ebuehi trained with new club Benfica for the first time on Thursday since he joined from Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag.

The 22-year-old, who made his competitive debut for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup against Iceland penned a five-year contract with the Portuguese side but only joined preseason Thursday after an extended break granted him by the club.

Benfica are currently in the Peninsula of Setúbal preparing for the new season and it was great excitement around the ground when the Nigerian arrived training as teammates immediately formed a guard of honour to welcome him officially to the team.

Ebuehi wasted no time in showing his pace, ball control and adapted very well to the training methods of manager, Rui Vitória to the delight of the coaching team.

After the training, Benfica posted a short video to highlight the first day in training of the former Dutch youth international and he was pictured with club captain, Luisao and the big Brazilian surely offered him some good advice and left him with a huge pat on the back.

Ebuehi, who was born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father and a Dutch mother played 78 times for ADO Den Haag between 2014 – 2018 before his switch to Benfica.
