The Spaniard who famously won the Champions League with Liverpool, was expected to be appointed as manager of Everton despite still being worshipped at Anfield.
However, his connection to the red half of the city has led to protests from fans and ex-players.

Talksport are reporting the club has listened to unhappy supporters, and decided not to offer Benitez a deal.
The fury of Everton fans was clear for all to see on Thursday night, after banners were seen outside Goodison Park with a clear message that they did not want Benitez.
