Biffo: My pep talk worked against Plateau United

Katsina United head coach, Abdullahi Biffo has credited his pep talk to his players for their 1-0 win
against Plateau United which guaranteed their passage to the quarter-final of the 2018 Federation Cup.

Chinedu Ajanah’s strike in the 86th minute of the fixture decided at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe was
enough to take the Chanji Boys to the second spot in Group A and Biffo disclosed that he told his
players they must strive to get the maximum points to qualify for the last eight.

He noted that he knew that Plateau United would be contented with aspiring for a draw knowing that it
would be enough to take them through but that he charged his players to go all out and rewrite the
script and that he was thrilled that they made and the good people of Katsina State happy.

“I think before the game nobody gave us a chance compared with the team we were up against. We were
underdogs before the start of the game and I told my players that it is either we are in or out,” Biffo
said.

“Knowing that a draw would be enough for Plateau United I noticed that they were playing with not much
intensity because had the game ended in a draw they would have qualified ahead of us. I told my players
that we must change some things in the second half after the first half ended goalless. I knew that
Plateau United we add delay tactics to their game.

“I told my players that it won’t be a do or die affair because the game with Plateau United won’t
decide their destiny but that it was important that they give a good account of themselves to make
Katsina people and the government who are the sole financier of the club
happy. I think it paid off because of the pressure we mounted in the second half.

“We got the goal at the right time with about seven minutes to the end of the encounter and I am very
proud of my players.”
