Black Stars Captain Ayew cautions soccer fans over pitch invasion

 

Soccer fans have been told to learn to control their emotions with a view to enjoying the best of the round leather game.

Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew who made the submission noted that football has its own spirit and comes with a lot of passion adding it takes both players and fans alike to make the game enjoyable.

Ayew who expressed satisfaction with his teammate’s performance in the 2-0 defeat of South Africa in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers in Cape Coast, made a case for a fan who had invaded the pitch apparently thrilled by the triumph of the Black Stars.

“To our dear fans, we know how passionate football is but it is very important for everyone to always abide by safety rules at the stadium to make the place safe for everyone,” he said

The Swansea City winger pleaded with authorities to be lenient with the pitch invader even as he expressed hope that the issue of pitch invasion would be a thing of the past for the good of the game.

“I understand the overzealous fan who invaded the pitch in Cape Coast is in the firm grip of the law and he is being processed for court,” Ayew said on his Twitter account.

“While condemning his unfortunate action, I want to plead with authorities to temper justice with mercy. I hope this will not happen again. “The former Marseille ace added.
