Blessing Oborududu has won a second medal for Team Nigeria at the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics after losing to USA’s Tamyra Stock-Mensah in the women’s Wrestling 68kg.
Oborududu lost 4-1 to her opponent USA’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the final of the women’s freestyle 68kg on Tuesday.
The performance on the night ensured the 32-year-old Oborududu is the first Nigerian wrestler to win a silver medal at the Olympics.
Oborududu qualified for the final after defeating Mongolia’s Soronzonboldyn Battsetseg 7-2 in the semi-finals on Monday.
Interestingly, Oborududu has won a Gold medal at the African Wrestling Championships every year for the last 11 years, except for 2012 when she did not enter due to competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
