Bournemouth boss Woodgate snaps Liverpool U-23 coach O’Neil
Gary O’Neil has left his U23 coaching post at Liverpool for Bournemouth’s job.
He has moved to Championship side Bournemouth to take up a first-team coaching position under new Cherries boss Jonathan Woodgate.
O’Neil had joined the Liverpool Academy set-up in August 2020 as an assistant to Barry Lewtas as part of a revamp prompted by Neil Critchley’s departure to take over as manager of League One side Blackpool.
A Liverpool statement said: “Everybody at LFC would like to thank Gary for his work at the Academy and wish him all the best for the future.”

And speaking to the official Bournemouth website, Woodgate said: “I’ve known Gary for a number of years, having played with him at Middlesbrough.
“He comes highly recommended from Liverpool and has a great knowledge of the game and an appetite to never stop learning.
“Gary is going to bring something different to the coaching staff. He’s a new voice to the players, someone who has no connection to Bournemouth and I believe that an outside pair of eyes are important for us.
“I’m really looking forward to Gary joining our staff.”
