Boxing: After this bout, no more chance for you, Fury tells Wilder

Tyson Fury has been warned he won’t want to face Deontay Wilder for a fourth time with the duo set to complete their trilogy fight in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It had been hoped that the Gypsy King would compete in a unification bout with Anthony Joshua over the summer but instead, Fury was ordered to fight Wilder once more.

An arbitration judge ruled that the 33-year-old needed to face Wilder for a third time so that the Bronze Bomber had a chance to reclaim his WBC title.

In their previous fights, a shock majority draw was succeeded by a seventh-round knockout for Fury with the pair set to battle it out once more in America.

There is no rematch clause for this upcoming bout though, meaning a fourth fight is off the cards which Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel believes is in the best interests of the Gypsy King:

“At this point no. We’ll see what happens in the fight, but at this point no,” said Finkel speaking to The Sun.

“And I would think, if my clairvoyance is correct, Fury won’t want any more part of him after this.”

The bout, originally scheduled for July 24 had to be moved to Autumn time after Fury tested positive for coronavirus whilst at his pre-fight training camp.

Finkel who has been co-manager since Wilder’s debut in 2008 has stated he fears for the Gypsy King ahead of the bout, adding: “I guess I’ve been with him about 14 years now, and this is the best I’ve ever seen him.

“From everything combined, including physical and mental. He’s stronger physically, mentally really focussed on this.

“I just don’t see how Deontay’s not going to knock him out this time.”
