Boxing fans slam Amir Khan’s jiffy fight

Amir Khan may have added another feather to his cap after knocking out Italian boxer Phil Lo Greco in less than 40 seconds but that for stranded boxing fans is one huge joke taken too far. Khan did not only have with ease on his return bout but earned £12,000 (about N6million) in less than a minute, how lucrative!

But the fans were not impressed taking to the social media to condemn the fight while tongue lashing the organisers for short-changing them.

The organisers according to them went for a nobody rather than going for a better opponent for Khan to actually work for his money.

Oliver Myerson wrote on Twitter: ‘If that was pay-per-view I’d be furious. What a joke. Don’t care how good Amir Khan is, promoters shouldn’t be making such a mis-match.

Another fan said absolutely joke of a fight @matchroomboxing. should be ashamed of themselves. Stop messing about and robbing us fans”

Khan, 31, had not fought for two years, since being beaten by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas in May 2016, and he made up for lost time by knocking Canadian Lo Greco down twice in the early stages.

In his first bout on British soil in five years, he sent Lo Greco to the canvas with a swift one-two combination inside the opening 30 seconds.

The contest was over moments later as the Briton’s devastating hand speed pinned his opponent up against the ropes to ensure it was over moments after it had started.

It meant Khan delivered an emphatic statement to Kell Brook, who was watching on from ringside, ahead of a possible all-British grudge match between the two Matchroom stable mates.
