CAF appoints Kanu as Ambassador, Amokachi to serve in technical study group

 

Former Nigeria internationals, Daniel Amokachi and Nwankwo Kanu have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football to serve in various roles at the forthcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

While Amokachi has been selected as a member of the competition’s technical study group, Kanu is one of the five ambassadors appointed by CAF along with Samuel Eto’Fils, Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure.

They are part of the 224-man tournament delegation released on May 29.

Both Kanu and Amokachi popularly referred to as the Bull were at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations jointly hosted by Nigeria and Ghana which was won by Cameroon after defeating Nigeria in  penalties. Incidentally Kanu missed his penalty.

The 2019 African Cup of Nation will begin from June 21 and July 20 in Egypt with Super Eagles open their campaign on June 22 against debutants Burundi.

Nigeria are drawn in a first round group that has Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar.
