Enyimba have qualified for the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup after demolishing Rayon Sports of Rwanda 5-1 in the second leg of their quarter-final fixture played on Sunday at the Aba Township Stadium. The first leg had ended goalless.
The two-time winner of the CAF Champions league showed their seriousness from the blast of the whistle which led to the opening goal coming in the 12th minute of play through Stanley Dimgba, but thirteen minutes later, Rayon equalised through Caleb Bimenyimana.
Enyimba’s lead was restored in the 29th minute through Ikouwen Udoh while Sunday Adetunji added the third before the break. Adetunji almost got the second which he wasted in front of goal.
The home side’s lead was further stretched in the 58th minute when former Warri Wolves player Joseph Osadiaye netted the fourth goal from a deflected free kick, while Isiaka Oladuntoye made it five in the 78th minute after tapping the ball home from a close range. Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu were among those that were at the Stadium to cheer Enyimba to victory.
