CAF to foot bill of Generation Foot in 2nd leg clash with Zamalek
In an effort to allow peace reign and ensure a no victor- no -vanquished rule, Confederation of African Football (CAF) has elected to foot the bill of Senegalese side Generation foot in the last leg Champions league clash with Zamalek of Egypt and Generation Foot to be played Thursday October 24 .
The Continental soccer ruling body further mandated Zamalek to confirm the venue of the match latest October 12, to clear days to the all-important clash that will see one of the teams join in the Confederation cup play-offs while the other will join the next stage of the Champions league.
CAF however warned that the last has not been heard on case as disciplinary measures will still apply after proper investigation regarding level of competence leading to the initial flop ” In order to facilitate both teams, it was decided that
– Zamalek will confirm the venue (stadium) for the game by Saturday 12 October at the latest
– CAF will advance the international travel and local accommodation expenses of Generation Foot and relevant match officials
-A further review of the case will be carried out by the CAF Disciplinary Committee in relation to aspects relevant to its competencies” CAF submitted
Recall that the Senegalese side refused to play the second leg after a sudden chance of venue. The match was initially billed for Petrosport stadium in Cairo, but was moved last minute to at Borg Al Arab stadium in Alexandria.
The first leg of the Confederation Cup play offs in which two Nigerian teams Rangers international and Enyimba will be competing will be played on October 30th while the second leg comes up November 5.
