CAFCC: Cotonsport aim to turn things around v JS Kabylie

JS Kabylie will be favourites to book their spot in the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup final when they host Cotonsport at Stade du 1er Novembre 1954 in Tizi Ouzou on Sunday evening.

Kick-off is 9pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).

The Algerian club put one foot in this year’s final with a 2-1 semifinal first-leg win in Garoua last weekend.

Lambert Araina had put the Cameroonian giants in front at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, but Ahmed Kerroum levelled matters for the Canaries before a Pierre Etame own goal handed the visitors the victory.

“Of course, we have already beaten Cotonsport three times in this competition. However, we will have to remain calm and prepare well for this return match,” said Kabylie head coach Denis Lavagne.

“My players will have to stay focused for this second-leg to finish the job. It will only be after that that we can think about the final and our potential future opponent.”

Cotonsport lost home-and-away to Kabylie on their way to finishing second behind the Algerians in Group B, but will know that victory in Tizi Ouzou could book them a ticket to the showpiece event.

“I think we have done very well to reach where we are at the tournament, now it’s up to us to move forward, that is to win the semifinal to play the final,” said Felix Oukine, captain of Cotonsport.

“We will do everything to qualify for the final”.

The aggregate winner will face either Raja Casablanca or Pyramids FC in this year’s final, set to take place in Cotonou, Benin on 10 July.
