Super Eagles Team Coordinator Patrick Paschal has hinted that new players in the camp will be given opportunity to showcase their skills in today’s high profile friendly in Austria.
He noted that while competitive matches makes it difficult to accommodate everybody because of the need to pick maximum of 23 players, the friendly provides an opportunity to try every player and assess their ability under a relaxed atmosphere.
“It is an opportunity for players especially those who have not been getting enough playing time to show what they are capable of doing. In training they have been doing very well and stand a good chance of participating in the friendly to prove themselves” he said while speaking to TVC News from the team’s camp in Austria earlier today.
The 1996 Atlanta Gold medallist expressed delight at the comportment of players called to the Nigerian camp revealing that he and other former players who have played their role in the past are constantly talking with the new ones with a view to maintaining a tradition of service and determination to serve.
Paschal who only recently got a three bedroom apartment from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in recognition of his contribution to sports, thanked God that it came adding that there is always a benefit to be derived in serving one’s nation.
The apartment is one of the 360 units of Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate in Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
Paschal regarded as one of the luckiest players to have played for the national team, featured between 1998 and 1999 in four internationals for the Nigerian national football team.
He was part of the Nigeria Olympic team that won gold medal in Atlanta 1996. Aside from the Olympic medal he also has 1995 All Africa Games Bronze medal in the kitty. The Eagles versus Indomitable Lions match kicks off at 8.30pm tonight.
